Goodbye to Wisconsin's oldest repo man

On January 19, 2010, my father in law of 27 years passed unexpectedly.  Francis Jenkins, "Fran The Friendly furnace man"(retired 2003) went in the hospital January 11, 2010, to have his pacemaker changed out, which is a very minor procedure.  At which time the doctors found his bloodwork to be way off.  Subsequently, it was discovered he had acute Luekemia, which was manifesting over a period of ten years.  After blood transfusions/ pacemaker changed, his body started shutting down and thus passed.

Here is my eulogy of "Fran" at his memorial service:

I was really blessed to have the privilege of two fathers.
My biological father passed in Dec 2000, and now my second, surrogate father.
I met Fran back in 1980 while dating my beautiful wife Lori.  Fran was kind of intimidating at first,  he being 240#s lbs and me 185#s. But he was a big teddy bear. He became my father in-law in August of 82. He really enjoyed life, his family and friends.

We really became close when my family moved to Shawano in Sept 1999.
I would help him with his furnace work until his knees hurt too much.
He then retired in 2002 or 2003.
At that time my business picked up and we took him along to do repoes.
Then it was to the point where Fran would call and say where are we going today or where we going tomorrow?
If it wasn’t serving papers on a road trip to LacDuFlambeau or Manitowoc or repoing cars in Eau Claire; He loved riding along as our reward for a good days work was lunch or dinner, wings, burgers, or brats and a beer or two.
Long surveillances were kind of taxing on Fran as sometimes he couldn’t pee when he had to as we couldn‘t go anywhere till the person moved.
One time while doing some work at the court house in Stevens Point I came out to the van and he said he used the bathroom, and he had to empty his pee bottle; being smack dab in front of the court house I just busted out laughing and we pulled into the adjacent parking lot and emptied the bottle.  You have to understand, when Fran peed he dropped everything while standing.(and I could imagine him standing vanside and peeing into his bottle)

Oct 2008 was the last time Fran went on a road trip with me, it was to Marinette, WI.
It became too painful for him to walk around and I’m sure he felt being a burden, always using the bathroom.
I didn’t care about the peeing or the time he took.
It was just he couldn’t handle the pain and he was losing strength.
The only time we had lunch now was after a doctor visit.
I enjoyed his candor, his laid back style, his quick humor and his determination among a host of other attributes.
Wisconsin’s oldest repo man will be missed.  My friend and my 2nd dad will be painfully missed.

Fran, Thank you for your daughter and family.  I Love you.

Fran was 85.

Paulding Light

This is not our video, but one from YouTube, which is pretty close to ours.  Our is not broadcast here as we have not converted to digital as of yet since it is from approximately 2 years ago.  We will be visiting Paulding again soon, with more "investigative tools" in hand and investigators along.  Any suggestions for this investigation or others, be sure to contact us.

PBS airs story again 7-2-09 of Magnum and 911BC

Magnum Investigations Plus has had the privilege of working with A.J. Marhofke and 911BC on several occasions in relation to the Amber Wilde search.  A.J., and his highly trained team of dogs and volunteers, have donated countless hours of their own time to assist in searches.  Please take a look at the rebroadcast  of this PBS episode, from a feature story that was being done on 911BC when PBS came along on our search a couple years ago.

Entry #2 Stories of Good Old Wisconsin Gumshoe (detective) work

A couple months back, after a long day of successfully serving several papers, I figured I was on a roll when I came to my last stop.  The house I arrived at looked vacant with furniture and items strewn about the yard as though it was a fresh move.  Frustrated, as I wanted my day to be at 100%, I went to the neighbor's house (which is routine in these situations) to inquire if they knew of the whereabouts of my subject.
I knocked on the neighbor's door, and it was answered by a male.  I asked him  if he knew where said subject moved to, and he  responded by saying, "That's me".  He went on to say he couldn't afford payments and moved in with his parents. Well maybe that wasn't major sleuthing, but just shows some of the simplest clues are right under our noses.

Unexplained Phenomenon

We are starting to look into investigating mysteries in our area, and would like to take a professional approach, as detectives.  Collecting evidence, taking pictures, documentation, etc., and will add the findings to our blog.

If you have anything you would like checked into, let us know, and we will try our best to get to it, in our spare time, as we will be doing this free of charge.

Our first idea is to check into the Paulding Light in Paulding, MI, just north of Watersmeet.

Please contact us with any ideas you would have for us.

Cheating Spouses

If your spouse or loved one says they don't love you anymore, it usually means that they don't have the same feelings they once had when they fell in love, because something obviously changed.  They are looking to recapture those feelings, unfortunately somewhere else.  It doesn't necessarily mean that they stopped loving you, but means they stopped investing in you.
This doesn't mean it's your fault.  Don't blame yourself.  Evaluate where and why things changed, as much as it hurts.

Even though we are hired to follow cheating spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends, this is something we wish we didn't have to do.  It is a very hurtful time.  If you would like to evaluate your situation before hiring a Private Detective, please visit our website at magnum-investigations.com and check our Resource Page for some very helpful links.  We hate to see broken marriages or relationships and hope our resources will help.

Entry #1 Stories of Good Old Wisconsin Gumshoe (detective) work

On a cold winter day in 2001, our lead investigator, Kevin Rogers showed a little of his intuitive side.  It may have come from his Milwaukee Police Training and experience, or his incredible powers of observation.   Either way, you almost had to be there to believe it.

We were on a routine  paper service delivery, looking for a man who was becoming hard to locate at home.  After walking around his property Kevin observed fresh tire track marks in the snow, leaving the driveway.  Out of frustration for the distance of the drive and not wanting to come back, Kevin called the man's ex-wife to ask what our subject drives.  She stated she didn't know what he drives, but she knew he was on his way to WalMart, with their kids, and maybe we could find him there. Our only description from her was that he was a larger man with 2 kids.  Kevin believed the vehicle to be a truck because of the wide tire tread mark in the snow.  However, not only was WalMart 25 miles from our location, but can you imagine how many trucks would be in a WalMart parking lot in a rural location?!  Or how about larger men inside with kids?

Well, as Kevin's persistence would have it, we had to go to WalMart to follow our ever so weak lead.  We checked every truck in hopes of seeing someone match his description walking to it.  After driving back and forth through the aisles in the parking lot, Kevin all of a sudden stops the car, and jumps out to check out a truck that caught his eye.  He walked closer, and said, "This is the truck!"    I of course thought he took a leave of his senses, but humored him anyway, by asking how he figured that.  Kevin then said "The tire tread matches the tracks from the driveway!"   Again, I was not quite convinced he wasn't ready for a mental check up, but knowing his bizarre accuracy in the past, decided to listen further.  He was adamant that this was the truck's tread marks because they were unique and he remembers them distinctly. So we sat and waited.   Sure enough, a large built man with 2 kids came to the truck.  The papers were served.
